From 11th August 2023, you can apply for a GP visit card for your child if they are aged 6 or 7.
Previously this scheme finished when your child turned 6 (Now 6 and 7 year olds are included too).
If you do not register you will continue to pay a fee .
The HSE will not automatically issue you a card. You need to register yourself as per instructions on their website.
Please note children aged 5 who already have a DVC – Doctor Visit Card will automatically be extended to their 8th Birthday ie you do not need to re-apply .
( Of note the above does not apply to children of Families who have a DVC or GMS card under income qualification – these children remain fully covered )
